Samsara is an action-RPG inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead where the core gameplay mechanic is reincarnation based on karma. I spent 4 months creating a prototype for Tranzfuser 2020 (a student game dev competition). The prototype was a success and stayed in development by Infinity27 Studio after the event.
I wrote the story of the prototype, designed the lead characters and proposed new gameplay elements such as the transforming weapons that take on different shapes based on the attack range. I also helped implement the combat system including dodging, quick and heavy attacks, weapon hit boxes and sound effects.
I worked primarily on the 3Cs (character, controls & camera). I made the movement system of the player character, and created a climbing system including both the game logic and animation setup. I worked closely with the team's character artist and performed 3D model and rig testing in the engine, and became familiar with the UE4 animation pipeline. I used Mixamo'a auto-rigging tool for the humanoid meshes and combined animations from it.
